September 9, 2025 — The investigation begins. The Season 5 premiere establishes Lester’s death as the new case. October 28 — The finale reveals the killer. The trio gathers the billionaires in the secret gaming room and checks whether any of them is missing a finger. None is. Who Killed Lester in Only Murders in the Building Season 5?
The finale explains that Beau was having an affair with Sofia Caccimelio. Nicky discovered the affair during a gathering in the casino room and attacked Beau, cutting off the mayor’s finger with a cleaver. Lester intervened. During the struggle, Nicky fell onto the cleaver and died, leaving Lester with the severed finger and a reason to bring the truth to light. (EW.com)
That is where Lester’s murder begins. Beau chased the doorman because he wanted the missing finger back and feared the larger scheme would be exposed. Lester ran to the Arconia courtyard and tried to signal for help. He also used his bird whistle, activating the Byrdee camera that had been set up to record birds in the courtyard. (EW.com)
Beau caught up with Lester and pushed him into the fountain, where he suffered a fatal head injury. Lester’s dying action was to blow the whistle again, allowing the camera to capture evidence of the confrontation. Beau then tried to eliminate Charles, Oliver and Mabel by trapping them in a hidden room while the Arconia was slated for demolition to make way for the casino. After the Lester case is resolved, the finale jumps forward three months. Charles, Mabel and Oliver listen to a new Cinda Canning podcast about a young red-haired woman accused of killing a royal descendant in Britain. Then the story cuts to New York. A red-haired woman, covered in blood, stumbles toward the Arconia and collapses outside the gates. The trio discovers that the woman is Cinda herself. The reveal turns the end of Season 5 into the starting point for the next mystery. (EW.com)

Season 6 is no longer just a possibility. Disney+ announced the renewal on October 28, 2025, confirming 10 episodes and a move to the United Kingdom.
